- What is yoga?

Traditional Yoga is so much more than just doing a cool pose, or becoming flexible! The practice of yoga embodies a holistic, 8-limbed path emphasizing mindfulness, breathwork (pranayama), meditation, and ethical living (yamas and niyamas). It is an internal, daily practice focused on cultivating self-awareness, personal transformation, and spiritual connection rather than mere physical flexibility or strength. - What is Vinyasa yoga?
It is a type of yoga that is dynamic and links physical postures (asanas) with breath, creating a continuous, rhythmic movement often described as moving meditation. - What is Hatha yoga?
“Hatha” is a Sanskrit word meaning “force” or “effort,” traditionally referring to the system of physical techniques aimed at balancing opposing energies—often interpreted as ha (sun) and tha (moon). Known for a slower pace this practice typically involves holding poses to build strength, improve flexibility, and enhance alignment. - What is Slow Flow yoga?
Slow Flow is a modern style of Vinyasa yoga, and is great for beginners. It is a style of Vinyasa yoga that allows students the time to explore alignment and sensation in each pose. - Who should practice yoga?
Anyone and everyone! Yoga can be easily adapted to feet an individuals needs, making it accessible to everyone; regardless of age, fitness level or flexibility. Yoga has brought me back from many an injury, and has drastically improved my quality of life with various chronic illnesses. - I’m a beginner and have never practiced yoga before, can I still attend a class?
Yes! We are all students of yoga and are constantly learning, everyone is welcome. Group classes are a great way to start, as well as booking a private 1:1 session with a yoga teacher. Bend Not Break offers private yoga classes at a 20% discount to first time students who are new to the practice.
