Why we feed Kalmbach

When it comes to raising poultry, nutrition plays a pivotal role in their health, growth, and overall well-being. Over the years, I’ve experimented with various commercial feed brands, but none have resonated with me quite like Kalmbach Feeds.

I am a firm believer in “you get what you pay for”, and that saying rings especially true for any livestock. We all want the best for our birds, and personally I feel that Kalmbach offers that. Over other brands, like Purina or Nutrena, I have noticed a visible difference in our birds, hatch rates, and overall health of our flocks.

Personal Experience: My journey with Kalmbach Feeds began after a series of disappointments with other commercial brands. I noticed inconsistencies in quality, and with chicks a significant increase in sudden death. However, upon switching to Kalmbach, I immediately noticed a difference. My poultry seemed healthier, more energetic, and their overall performance improved significantly.

We recently did an experiment comparing Kalmbach and Purina for our day old Coturnix Quail. Group A received Purina 30% Gamebird Starter and Group B received Kalmbach 28% Gamebird Starter.

In over a year of hatching quail, I have never lost more than one bird per hatch and even then that was from issues with their hatch. However, Group A which received the Purina brand feed we lost over 9 birds from sudden death. Group B, brooded in the same environment but receiving Kalmbach brand feed were entirely healthy and all made it to adulthood.

After this experience, I have never looked back and will exclusively feed Kalmbach Feeds for all of our poultry here on The Ridge.
