Welcome to The Ridge: Lucy and Goosey, our new ducklings

We have exciting news on The Ridge.. we have started our duck flock with two very cute Khaki Campbell ducklings.

It always feels like Spring when there are chicks hatching, flowers budding and ducklings quacking! Since we started keeping livestock on The Ridge, we have wanted pet ducks. I grew up raising Muscovy ducks and seven years ago was introduced to Khaki Campbells after my mom hatched a mix batch of duck eggs for her classroom.

One of the ducklings I kept was a Khaki Campbell which I named “Pork Chop” and she made me fall in love with the breed. It’s been many years since I kept ducks, and I have missed them so much. They’re a constant source of entertainment, fun to cuddle and most importantly – great helpers in the garden.

We are hoping for a hen and a drake but it will be a few more weeks before we know for sure. Either way, we’re thrilled to welcome our new babies, Lucy and Goosey to the farm and eggcited for duck eggs. This baker can’t wait!
