How to make happy pups

One of our favorite things to do is to make treats for our animals – especially our hard working farm pups! This is also one of Freya’s favorite activities as she loves helping in the kitchen.

Making your own dog treats is a great way to become more self sufficient, and also maintain a limited ingredient diet for your dogs.

Here is our favorite three ingredient dog treat recipes! Try it out and let us know what you think.

Ingredients

2 Ripe Bananas (or 1 Can of Pumpkin Puree)

2 Cups of Ground Oatmeal (Old Fashioned or Instant is fine)

2 Cups of Peanut Butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300º.
  2. Grind your oatmeal using a food processor, blender or coffee grinder.
  3. Add your Bananas and Peanut butter once ground until fully mixed (it should be a dry but soft dough consistency).
  4. Roll out onto a smooth surface dusted with more ground oatmeal until 1/8-1/4″ thick.
  5. Use a cookie cutter or mason jar lid to cut the shapes of your cookies before adding them to a bake sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes and let cool before giving them to your pups!

These simple dog treats are a big hit in our house and make great gifts for fellow dog lovers! You can add some yogurt or applesauce to your mixture to make a softer biscuit for elderly dogs who may need softer treats.

Happy baking!
