Community Giveback: Little Free Fridge in Charlottesville, VA

When we embarked on our micro farming journey, we were driven not only by the love for growing food but also by a strong desire to give back to our community. It’s an incredible feeling to witness the fruits of our labor translate into positive impact, and we recently had the opportunity to take a step towards addressing food insecurity in our beloved Charlottesville, VA.

Our girls have been laying so much, I was able to drop off eight dozen quail eggs recently to the Little Free Fridge outside of Visible Records!

The Power of Community Fridges

The Little Free Fridge movement is a beacon of hope for many communities grappling with food insecurity. These fridges, often located in accessible public spaces, offer perishable and non-perishable foods for anyone who may need them. They operate on a simple principle: give what you can, take what you need. This communal spirit transcends economic boundaries, making it a true embodiment of ‘neighbors helping neighbors.’ Learn more here.

Continuing the Cycle of Giving

As we reflect on our small contribution to the community, we’re reminded that our micro farm is part of a larger ecosystem – one that encompasses not only the plants and animals we tend to but also the people who make up our community. The eight dozen quail eggs we donated are a symbol of the collective effort needed to combat food insecurity. But our journey doesn’t end here. And neither does yours!

We’re committed to nurturing our micro farm to its fullest potential, ensuring that we can continue to share our abundance with those who need it most. And we invite you, our community, to join us in this endeavor. Whether by donating to the community fridge or supporting similar initiatives in your area, together we can make a difference – one egg, one meal, one community at a time.

In the spirit of unity and compassion, let’s come together to combat food insecurity and foster a brighter future for all.

Stay tuned for more updates from our little micro farm, as we work hand in hand with our community to sow the seeds of positive change.
